NSF and Returned Checks

NSF Check

A check that was submitted to the college as a form of payment, sent to the bank, and then returned to the college because the payee had Non-Sufficient Funds in their bank account to pay for the check.

Returned Check

A check that was submitted to the college as a form of payment, sent to the bank, and then returned to the college for any reason; for example, a stop payment, account closed, or refer to maker.

Any checks that were submitted as payment to the college, in either the bookstore or as a tuition payment, and subsequently returned by your bank to Fullerton College will result in a “Hold” on your account at the college. The hold on your account will prevent you from doing the following: registering for classes, dropping classes, and obtaining grades or transcripts. This hold affects the following campuses: Fullerton College, Cypress College, and the School of Continuing Education.

There is a returned check fee of $25.00 per returned check.

The hold on your account will be removed when you make payment-in-full, via cash, cashier’s check, money order, or credit/debit card (Visa or MasterCard). Payments MUST be made directly to the Bursar’s Office. You may also mail in a Money Order or Cashiers Check to the Bursar’s Office for the amount of your returned check(s) plus the $25.00 returned check fee for each check. We are sorry, but we cannot accept credit/debit card payments by mail or phone
